Backup, updates, and removal

Before updating #

  • Back up the WordPress database.
  • Back up the plugin files.
  • Record the current GiveBlocks and Stripe mode/status.
  • Test the update on staging when possible.

After updating #

  • Confirm the displayed GiveBlocks version.
  • Open Organization Profile and Settings.
  • Confirm the payment mode and connected account.
  • Test one donation form, one event form, the donor portal, reports, and check-in.
  • Purge caches.

Removal #

The current plugin package does not include an automatic uninstall routine that deletes all GiveBlocks data. Deactivating or deleting plugin files may leave GiveBlocks tables and options in the WordPress database.

Retain this behavior when historical transaction records must be preserved. If permanent removal is required, create a database backup and have a qualified administrator remove the GiveBlocks tables/options according to the organization’s retention policy.
